Good poets not only write poems they believe their
audience will find informative and interesting, they also research and gather
important information to become as well informed as possible about the style of
poetry they are writing. When you are
writing different styles of poetry, people will want to know how you know what
you know, and where you got this information from. It is very important to make sure the sources
you use to find information are credible. You need to know as much about a style of
poetry before you being writing in that style!
Your task is to visit each
of the websites below and copy and paste
images, text, and/or audio/video into Word. These websites are simply
a starting place for you. You may use other sources, but you must
make sure to cite them properly. You will be looking for information
on poets and their style of poetry. You need to find
information on three styles of poetry
and also three separate
authors.
Several Tools are
linked on this page to help you complete and show your scrapbook.
Specifically, you will:
- Surf the Internet sites linked below.
- Copy any text you want by dragging across the words then using
the Edit - Copy command on the menu bar. Paste into a basic
text editor, word processor, desktop publishing program or multimedia
software.
- Save images you like by downloading them (Note: check with
the authors of the page to see if any copyright rules apply. A good practice to get into is to use
the email link on the page that has an image you want an ask permission.
You might be surprised at the response you get.) Either paste
the images you've downloaded into a multimedia, paint or desktop
publishing program (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, or Publisher, OpenOffice).
- Once the scrapbook assignment is completed, review it carefully
so that you can give clear and thoughtful reasons why you found the things
you collected especially important.

As you are copying and pasting information into your Word document,
take the time to cite each source when you find it. This will save you time in the end when you
put together your works cited page and list the resources that helped you
create your scrapbook page(s).
