Additional Units:

-          Holidays Around the World

Required Text:

Prentice Hall Literature & Write Source

Students will use the classroom texts as a resource to support their  projects.  Assignments will occasionally be given in which the text is required for completion.  If students do not finish the assignment during class time or a directed studies period, students may check the book out to be taken home.

Required Materials: The required materials for reading/language arts consist of their assignment notebook, a writing folder, a binder with loose-leaf paper divided into three areas, and a pencil case with pens and pencils.

On occasion I may ask students to bring additional materials to class.  Most of these supplies are included on the 6th grade supply list and should be at school already.  If a supply is needed that is not listed, I will give plenty of notice and a few days for students to purchase the supply such as poster board or other display items.

Homework:

All homework is posted on my website on a daily basis.  Homework, including daily studying is expected to be completed on time according to the assigned due date.  Any questions should be asked before a due date arrives.

Late work:

Students work will be marked late if it is not done to specifications as of the start of the class period.  If students do not complete and/or turn in work after three days they will receive a zero for that assignment.  It is the student’s responsibility to come and see me to hand in papers or ask if they are unsure of an assignment, especially if they are absent.

            * Students will be on time and come prepared to class.

            * Students will fill in their assignment notebook in class.

            * Students will follow directions and respect everyone at HMS including fellow

revising and editing their work themselves, with a peer and with an adult.
